About

Jessica is a classically trained landscape architect and principal of her full-service, award-winning firm Matteson Landscape Architecture. With over 20 years of experience, Jessica is widely known in the Northeast for curating experience-driven residential and commercial outdoor spaces. Jessica masterfully blends the science of landscape with joie de vivre to create one-of-a-kind landscape experiences and is recommended by top architects, interior designers, and discerning clients.

Jessica has a Bachelor of Science in horticulture (B.S.), Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) and a minor in real estate, all from Cornell University, where she continues to do research on many aspects of the built environment. As an active alumni member of Cornell, each year Jessica spends a week in the research library reading through the latest research on the built environment and how it impacts our state of mind.

Jessica prides herself in her work and has designed a variety of elite projects ranging from the gardens of the Mandarin Oriental in Atlanta, GA to an 11 acre private estate in Connecticut. Since her work is so personal, she often stays in communication with her clients for years after a project is built as a resource for ongoing landscape improvements.

On a personal level, Jessica has traveled to over 20 countries (Japan being her favorite) to study the best in class landscapes from around the globe. Through her global travels, she has built an incredibly unique rolodex of interesting and talented vendors – from planters in Belgium to marble from Italy. She often imports these unique treasures to furnish her clients’ outdoor spaces. When she isn’t traveling or working, she is hanging out with her husband and two kids (usually at a sporting event), tending the vegetable garden or sitting around the firepit with friends.
