This last month was very busy at the DCA and included our annual Halloween parade, painting and flower arranging classes, our Art Lecture Series, an ICEHOTEL, a famous author, great food demonstrations and family photo sessions!
Chef’s Tasting with Estia’s
Thank you to Colin Ambrose from Estia’s Back Porch Café in Darien for a delicious evening demonstration and tasting in the DCA commercial kitchen. We appreciate Colin’s generous support of the DCA and his overall community-mindedness. Stay tuned for more tasting experiences at the DCA.
Photo Sessions with Photographer Bill Wang
Both the DCA formal garden and our historic rooms were the backdrop for recent Saturday family photo sessions at the DCA, with the help of award-winning local photographer Bill Wang, who kindly split the proceeds with us. We timed this event so that images would be ready for holiday card ordering. We hope to offer another session this spring, that could be used not only for family portraits (think Mother’s/Father’s Day gifts), but also for LinkedIn, or senior portraits.
Our Women’s Luncheons invited Mary Gibbons to speak about her adventures planning and constructing the ICEHOTEL in Sweden.
Book Talk and Signing with Author Jon Meacham
Destiny and Power — The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush
About 180 fans of Jon Meacham came to the DCA to hear him speak.
Flower Arranging Workshop: Fall Colors

Our last two presenters were Kevin M Murphy, Eugénie Prendergast Curator of American Art at WCMA and William H. Gerdts, Professor Emeritus of Art History, Graduate School of The City University of New York.
