The DCA has a long history of gardening activities. Many of the original members – men especially – were avid gardeners. In our earliest history, the DCA made many plant-related improvements in Darien, such as large-scale planting of trees, and the addition of flowering window boxes at the train station.
Today’s gardening activities are proudly managed by the DCA Greenhouse Group. These events include hands-on workshops in our famous Ellen Biddle Shipman Formal Garden, a holiday craft workshop, speakers on gardening topics, and our annual DCA Plant Sale in May.
Upcoming Gardening activities
Join our Greenhouse Group for a little holiday cheer, as they lead you in this hands-on workshop, to make a table centerpiece of your very own. With holiday tunes in the background, you’ll be shown the basic steps, then left to follow your own inspiration. Bring your favorite container (suggest an opaque, waterproof shape with a 6″x6″ opening) and clippers if you have them; we’ll provide the rest.
Reservations are requested to ensure enough material for all. Please register through this link.
